Find A Wide Selection Of Shoe Racks Here
If you find yourself drowning in pairs of shoes, either for yourself or those of your spouse, chances are they are eating up your closet space as well. Shoes are extremely hard to store efficiently because they come in so many different shapes and sizes and most storage devices tend to be symmetrical. There are plenty of storage options designed to suit your needs, so no matter if you have a walk-in closet or a tiny apartment closet, storing shoes should not take up most of your space.
Stand Up Shoe Rack
This type of rack is most popular for those who have plenty of space in their closet and want to organize their shoes a bit better. Most standard racks are of the three-tier variety and are made of a wire frame, though some are wooden and offer a shoe rack bench on top for sitting to tie shoes. This type of storage is best for open closet designs, since it can store normal shoes such as high heels, dress shoes, and athletic shoes on the bottom two tiers, while footwear that takes up more space like boots can be stored on top.
Over The Door Rack
The over the door shoe rack is ideal for those who do not have much closet space and want to make the most of what is available to them. Most door shoe racks are made of wire frames and can house up to 36 pairs of shoes. The only downside to this method of storage is storing large footwear like boots is nearly impossible, because the sections that are designed to hold each pair of shoes are symmetrical and cannot be expanded. For those on a tight budget with a need to store shoes, some back of the door racks are made of canvas to help deflect the cost.
Shoe Cubby
A shoe cubby is similar to the stand up rack, but because the surface area is flat, it is one of a few types of stackable shoe rack. It combines the pockets of an over the door rack for quickly grabbing matching shoes. Cubbies tend to be a little bit larger than what is available in their door cousins, so boot storage is a little bit easier. Still, this design requires having sufficient closet floor or shelf space, but it is more convenient than the rack if you want to make sure your shoes stay paired up. This also prevents shoes from touching and getting scuffs, so it is the ideal shoe storage for someone who is worried about the appearance of their shoes.
